Welcome to an exciting new cycling club
- A non-profit making club established to promote cycling in mid and upper Nithsdale.
- Supported by the Buccleuch Estate and Rik’s Bike Shed cycle shop
- Registered with the British Cycling Federation
- Cycling in any shape, or form. The current emphasis of the club is with mountain biking, but it will cover all forms of cycling. Watch out for the first club “cruise” featuring bizarre and wacky bikes, such as thosebuilt by Ross at Kaos Blacksmiths.
- Supporting the Drumlanrig Root Rats to increase the number of young people in cycling
- Social events, such as ceilidhs and barbecues
- Club rides: Thursday evening and Sundays during winter. Contact Rik for more details.
- Promoting cycling across the local community with events such as cycle orienteering.
- Trail maintenance and bicycle maintenance and first aid training.
- Racing: the club has recent victories in the juvenile and youth mountain bike racing categories
- Coaching: see separate section on Go-Ride.
- Mountain bike coaching is also available for adults.
Drumlanrig Root Rats
- The under 18’s wing of the club
- A great way to improve cycling skills and have fun on your
bike in a safe, supervised environment. - Suited to riders of all abilities.
- Training under the guidance of an accredited coach.
- Fun for all is the emphasis
- Racing is arranged along the principals of Go-Ride
- Go-Ride training sessions on Thursdays whilst light allows.
- Sunday rides and fun activities during the winter.
